Do you have on-campus accommodation/do you provide accommodation?
There are three main accommodation options available to you: Home-stay, Hostel or Flatting. Wintec does not provide accommodation on campus but the International Centre has a placement service to assist you if you wish to stay in home-stay or hostel accommodation. Students who choose to go into a flat need to make their own arrangements.

What are your fees?
Fees generally range between $15,000 to 18,000 per year. The fees for each Programme are shown in the International Student Guide which can be found at:

Do you provide assistance to find a job/do you have campus placements?
Student Job Search is run by the Students’ Association (SAWIT) and is here to help you find temporary and part time work while studying.

Can I work while I study?
Students studying on most diplomas, all degrees or postgraduate studies are generally entitled to work 20 hours per week during the academic year and students studying on these programmes for longer than one year are generally entitled to work full time during the summer break. Do you have activities/sports teams for students?
Wintec runs a range of events and activities for students which are displayed on an events timetable on our MyTec student web portal.

Will there be access to computers for study/private use?
Student computers are available to all enrolled students. On the City Campus, the Gallagher Hub has over 100 computers and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What level of English will I require for mainstream study?
Generally Wintec’s English language requirements are:
Concurrent programmes: Academic IELTS 5.0 or 5.5 with 5.0 in the written band.
Certificate Programmes (Levels 1 – 3): Academic IELTS 5.5 with 5.0 in the written band.
Certificates, diplomas and degrees (Levels 4 or above): Academic IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in the written band.
Postgraduate programmes (Levels 8 and 9): Academic IELTS 6.5 to 7.0 with 6.0 in the written band or across all bands depending on the programme.
Some qualifications require higher levels of English language ability so please check the specific programme requirements in the International Student Guide which can be found at:

Can I get permanent residence after I graduate?

What is the weather like in Hamilton?
Hamilton has a relatively warm climate. Temperatures range between 20-28 degrees Celsius in summer and averages between 10-15 degrees Celsius in Winter.
